Another Black Friday has come and gone and once again I have to report that it was a major dud.  I made it a point to visit several of the major retailers today such as Best Buy, Office Depot and Old Navy and of the three, only Old Navy had any real bargains to offer the Black Friday shopper.  The biggest disappointment, once again, was Best Buy.  It never fails to disappoint when Best Buy runs a holiday sale.  It seems that they love to offer their shoppers a plethora of low-end electronics at deep discounts, so if a low-end laptop or cheap digital camera are on your list then Best Buy is the place to go.  However, if you need a decent monitor or a computer that will allow you to multi-task then look elsewhere.  Practically anything that has decent specs is on display at the same old prices as any other day of the year.

You’d think that with a slumping economy that the retailers would want to make more of an effort to get people in their doors to spend.  Not just spend but feel good about spending and hopefully make them leave the store wanting to come back and spend some more on another day.  Alas, I was left with the impression that a lot of major retailers were only concerned with turning a quick profit with little regard to whether or not the buyer will want to come back again.  As for me, I’ll just wait for the lines to die down because the deals that were being offered today just weren’t enough to encourage me to spend.
