The Portland Mercury reports that Rocco’s Pizza on 10th and Burnside is closing its doors after 18 years. Mister Viddy has had many a slice of their cardboard tasting pizza but still, this place holds some fond memories and I am sad to hear that Rocco’s will be no more.

Day 232: Last Minute Hustle

Saturday is here! We hit the road for the 1700 mile journey to Minneapolis early tomorrow morning so the entire household is moving at a frantic pace as we all finish last minute packing and cleaning. Time is up. Everything must be packed today and anything we have forgotten will be lost to us once we roll out of the driveway tomorrow. Road trip!

Day 227: Holding Steady

This post a day is getting extremely difficult due to the fact that we are also departing for Minneapolis in less than a week. But I made a commitment and I will see it through. It didn’t help that today was in the mid-90′s again and I did not feel like doing much of anything. Plus, I am also working on my Tumblr site for The Velo Arthouse and that is yet another item on my daily to do list.

First off, we hit Uwajimaya this morning and picked up some snacks before heading back home because it was HOT this afternoon. But now let me say this, Zynga is becoming a bloated monster. Can Zynga manage to dump any more shit into Farmville or Cafe World? I mean seriously, these are just basic browser based games but unless you have a gaming PC they are laggy as shit. Fuck you Zynga. And don’t get me started on the fact that you stole my puppy from me in Farmville.

Day 211: Saute Saturday

So, it went from the mid-70′s to several days of high-90′s and now it’s trending back down to mid-80′s over the weekend and then back into the 60′s next week. We love Oregon! To celebrate, I am enjoying a mug of hot coffee and thanking the tech gods that our PC’s survived the spike in temperature. The pet’s all agree that hot weather is not fun, probably because they are not allowed in the pool to cool themselves off. And of course at the end of this month we are packing up and hitting the road for Minneapolis.

That is another story so for now I bid you all adieu and will talk at you later.

Day 209: Holy Fuck, It’s Hot

It’s 7am and I’m already sweating like a pig. But what do you expect in Oregon? Last week it was in the 70′s and now the temperature jumps up by 20 degrees. Ack. Later today it will be approaching the century mark and I’ll be grateful for having a desk job in an air conditioned building.

Day 207: Here Comes The Sun

On a Tuesday in July the sun came to Oregon. How long it plans on gracing our presence is open to debate but for now I can verify firsthand that it’s here.
You can hear the buzz in the crowd as everyone rejoices over the possibility of having persistent sunshine for the remainder of the summer. Of course, the old guard already knows that nothing is guaranteed when it comes to Oregon weather and the rain can return at any moment. So for now we shall simply take what we can get.

Day 205: 4th of July

Counting down to 4th of July fireworks down on the Willamette. A yearly tradition since we first moved to Oregon over a decade ago. I’m expecting the crowds to be intense and the MAX ride home will be packed but it only happens once a year so who cares.

Day 203: Rain On A July Day In Oregon

As you can see in the photo above, this is what a July day in Oregon is like. This is not a summer shower this is just a typical day in all its gray glory. Who needs sunshine in the summer? What is this anyway, a Beach Boys song? An added benefit of this kind of weather is that it makes for favorable coffee drinking conditions. And speaking of coffee I hear a cup calling me now.
