So I depart from the former #1 bike friendly city to the new #1, Minneapolis. I do look forward to riding my bike in a blizzard.
So I wake up early to run to the store for my wife, no big deal as it was clear and sunny but you could tell it had been raining earlier. I hit the store and on my way back I see a puddle in the bike path. Again, no big deal because I know this stretch of road and it is pretty level so I think to myself that I’ll just peddle through. Big mistake. The puddle was deeper than it looked and my shoes and pant cuffs get soaked. No major disaster. So I stop by the house and drop off the package for my wife and head into work.
At this point it is still clear and in the distance I do not see any rain clouds. The first half of the commute was great but then it starts raining. Not heavy but persistent enough so that by the time I locked my bike up at work my shoes and pants are soaked again. Luckily as I am writing this post everything is starting to dry out. Because as you all know, it sucks having we feet at work.
Sunday: May 2, 2010
This Sunday started out horrible. Squabbling amongst family members does not make for a day of rest. Luckily I was able to put that all behind me and get on the Lemmy for a ride up to the grocery store. And while I was there I figured it would be a good idea to energize myself with a cup of coffee from Starbucks. And for all you Starbucks haters out there, fuck you. If I can get a consistently good cup of coffee from a place I could care less whether it is a local coffee house or a major chain. Sorry for that rant but I cannot stand people who criticize Starbucks just to do it.
Anywho, I enjoyed my tasty cup of coffee and then ran into the grocery store and did my thing. The ride home was peaceful and the weather is calm and cool so now I am debating on whether to ride over to the bike shop and buy some new tires.
