It’s a slow day. Well, not exactly slow as much as it is a less non-technical day. Sketched out a rough drawing of my new myTouch 3G phone. I really like the phone and have no issues with it to date. Anyhow, time to get back to eating my cup of noodles.

Stream of Consciousness

In literary criticism, stream of consciousness is a narrative mode that seeks to portray an individual’s point of view by giving the written equivalent of the character’s thought processes, either in a loose interior monologue, or in connection to his or her actions.

Fabio Cavassini created a slick little tool that will generate a very nice looking, embedded Flickr slideshow on your website. As you can see from the example above (using my own Flickr feed, of course) it is a nicely packaged slideshow within an iframe. I know from professional experience that many of you budding website designers struggle when it comes to working with images and slideshows so hopefully this little tool will help you in the future. As a professional photographer I can tell you from firsthand experience that this little tool can make life a lot easier. It won’t take your crappy photos and make them nice but it will give you an easy way to share your crappy photos with the world. Enjoy!

Day 52: A Post A Day (The Tired Slim Shady and Lost: Season Finale)

So I guess this will be the final season of Lost? And not a moment too soon. Hurley and Sawyer eventually get married in the future where gay marriage is legal throughout the world and I think Charlie finds his way back to The Shire. Talk about a good concept that just never panned out. I’m tired. I have the next two days off so maybe I’ll find the motivation to produce something of substance. Until then, this is the real slim shady, signing off!

Day 34: A Post A Day (Keeping Portland Weird)

Today was spent down on Southeast Hawthorne in Portland and as you can tell from the photograph above, Portland is as weird as ever. It’s one hell of a way to diet and it certainly sounds effective, unless health and safety are a concern.

Day 31: A Post A Day (Charlie Mike)

And today I have broken the 30 day mark on my post a day project. There is no stopping me now unless I lose internet access.

On my to-do list are such things as doing the FAFSA for my daughter, getting out and doing more photography and of course, deciding on whether to relocate to Minneapolis or not. For now, I am still down in the trenches helping those who just can’t help themselves. Each day in tech support brings me one step closer to meeting that one unique individual who will be so aggravating that it finally becomes the last straw. I’ve only handed in my badge once and in a moment of weakness I came back to this job but the next time it will be permanent.

Until then, I’ll be here waiting for you. Well, maybe not you but you know what I mean.

It is a good example of black & white photography. I want to thank my co-worker Dan for providing me with the most excellent composition that I’ve had to work with in a while. My only regret was that I had to use the camera on my BlackBerry Curve to capture this image rather than my Nikon. But you just can’t let an opportunity pass you by so I used the tools that I had at hand.

Duke City Day

And today is all about Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Duke City. I lived there back in 2006-2007 and loved every minute of it. Why did I leave if I loved it so much? Because I am an Oregonian and can’t handle being away from the Northwest. It’s in my blood. But Albuquerque is a great city.

That’s right, the Isotopes are the minor league baseball team from The Simpsons and they are the real life minor league baseball team in Albuquerque. Amazing. And then there is Satellite Coffee. I am a coffee lover and this is one the biggest things I miss about Albuquerque.

I know that one day my travels will take me back to Albuquerque, but until then, I still have the great memories of having lived in a great city.

Day 24: A Post A Day (Good Grief, My Pants Are Wet)

Sometimes you gotta make a tough choice and tonight I had to decide whether to ride home in the rain and deal with wet pants or don my rain pants and ride home all sweaty. It was 51 degrees when I left the office and I knew that by the time I made it home I was going to be getting warm. So I chose to ride home in wet pants because it seemed less gross than getting my legs all sweaty.

Day 18: A Post A Day (The Tail End of 2009)

As a famous man once said, “What’s in a name? That which we call a honey bucket by any other name would smell as sweet.” And they also say that a picture is worth a thousand words. So let us reflect back on 2009, both the good times and the bad, and enjoy this picture that I took this morning at Millikan Way while waiting on the MAX.

It is simply amazing how you can find little treasures where you least expect them. 2009 seemed to pass in the blink of an eye even though we suffered through the worst recession in decades. And now I am looking forward to a vibrant 2010 but am wise enough to forgo making any resolutions. I’ll just play it by ear.
