I was just turned on to Brother Cadfael and his escapades in western England, in the first half of the 12th century. The character of Brother Cadfael was created by the linguist-scholar Edith Pargeter under the name “Ellis Peters” and orignally appeared in a series of novels as well as on the radio. I am currently watching the television series which stars Derek Jacobi who also portrayed the Roman emperor Claudius in the television series, I, Claudius.

I’m just getting started on Series I which was first aired in 1994 but so far I am hooked. Given that the series was set in 12th century England I was skeptical but the character of Brother Cadfael is well developed and the stories are both entertaining and intriguing. If you get the chance I highly recommend you check it out.

I am always on the lookout for good resources that can help a struggling freelancer find work or improve their skills. Today I came across an excellent website called FreelanceSwitch that offers an abundance of resources. FreelanceSwitch has an excellent blog that covers many topics regarding working as a freelancer as well as forums and useful links to even more excellent resources. As a freelance writer and graphic designer I felt right at home while reading through their articles on topics such as managing work/life balance and using your blog to promote your business.

Now that I am looking to branch out into freelance writing I was pleased to find this website and immediately bookmarked it in my browser.

One area of FreelanceSwitch that you simply must check out is their archive of podcasts they call Freelance Radio. I listened to episodes 38 and 39 and I can tell you that these podcasts are well produced and just like the website itself, they offer you a lot of good information regarding the freelance world.

But don’t take my word for it, see for yourself. If you are a creative freelancer then get on over to FreelanceSwitch today and see what they have to offer.
